Bringing Family Recipes and Authentic Peruvian Flavors to Queens
The Salazar Family Story
The Salazar family grew up in Lima, Peru, surrounded by food, family, and tradition. They worked in Peruvian restaurants back home and dreamed of sharing the bold flavors and hospitality of their culture with a new community in New York.
Opening Don Pollo
In the early 2000s, the Salazar family opened the first Don Pollo in Ozone Park, Queens. From a small, family-run kitchen, they quickly became known for their smoky rotisserie chicken, vibrant Peruvian spices, and the warmth that made every guest feel like part of the family.
Continuing The Legacy in Astoria
At 29-03 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106, the Salazar family continues their tradition. Guests enjoy signature rotisserie chicken marinated in a family recipe and served with famous green aji sauce. The menu also includes Lomo Saltado, Arroz Chaufa, Ceviche Mixto, and other classic Peruvian dishes, reflecting the family’s dedication to authentic flavors.
